Situated on the south west coast of the island, St George known as the 'sun set bay' is approximately 35kms from Corfu Town.
Accessible by only one road that winds through dense olive groves, St George was once just a tiny fishing community.
Today it still retains much of it's charm and also boasts three wonderful sandy beaches, St George beach, Issos beach and Halikouna beach. The longest of the three is pure sand stretching for over a mile and attracts tourist and locals from all over Corfu.
Stretching out a little further across the sand dunes and desert like features is Lake Korission, covering an expanse of 1500 acres. The lake or lagoon here is a nature reserve and home to many rare bird species - ideal for walking and being close to nature aswell as being a turtle-nesting area. This is truly a magical spot where sea and sand harmonise.
As the day draws to a close and the beaches begin to empty, St George becomes a paradise for those who enjoy tranquility and the chance to relax in peaceful surroundings. Join the locals in the tavernas, sample the local wine and delicious cuisine whilst watching the sunset on the horizon. Simply divine!
